My name is John and I have always been interested in flying, all my life, so I got my PPL. Not long after I got interested in building my own airplane. I am not too bad at working with my hands but not too much of a wood worker. A friend of mine Dennis a talented wood worker reassured that I could build my own airplane, and agreed to help me get started an offer that I could neither resist nor refuse. I am now well into the build of NX895BP.
From the thought of getting my own airplane at a lower then market cost as my goal, my mindset has changed to be more focused on the build rather than the result.
As I was once told by a much younger but wiser man, it is really more about the journey than the destination. I learned that from friend and hero. It may have been something I already knew but actually had to hear it, as sage advice from my son Nicholas. I am amazed by his insight and wisdom at the ripe old age of 24.
Now that I understand that aspect of life I really do get much pleasure out of the building process, not as a chore to build an airplane by as a mission and labor of love.
